UAE weather update: Rain, thunder, hail expected midweek

The UAE is set to experience unstable weather conditions this week due to the influence of both surface and upper-level low-pressure systems extending from the south, along with the northward movement of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

A moist air mass from the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman is being drawn towards the country. Combined with rising daytime temperatures and the presence of the eastern mountains, these conditions are leading to the formation of convective clouds over scattered regions, a WAM report conveyed.

Weather disturbances are forecast to affect eastern and southern parts of the country, extending into some internal areas. Convective cloud development is expected on Wednesday and Thursday, potentially bringing rainfall of varying intensities. Thunder, lightning, and small hail

Winds will range from southeasterly to northeasterly, generally moderate but could become fresh to strong during periods of convective activity. This may stir up dust and sand, reducing visibility. Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are expected to remain slight to moderate.
