GE Vernova launched a new white paper detailing the role of AI-enabled applications in building scalable, sustainable, resilient, and safe electrical grids, with cybersecurity at the core.

Released in the run-up to ADIPEC 2025 in Abu Dhabi, the paper, titled AI at the Helm: Redefining the Future of the Grid, explores advanced digitalisation strategies powered by artificial learning and machine learning, particularly focusing on virtualisation and predictive decision-making.

The report offers actionable insights for engineers, operators, policymakers, and executives responsible for shaping the future grid.

GE Vernova is participating as a Gold Sponsor at ADIPEC 2025, taking place from November 3–6 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The company’s presence at Stand 7135 in Hall 7 reflects the power of AI in redefining the electrical grid landscape, in keeping with ADIPEC 2025’s theme: Energy. Intelligence. Impact.

The white paper, which follows previous papers on AI’s role in intelligent grids and grid operations, highlights key AI-enabled capabilities, including:

    • Data analysis and prediction for informed operational and strategic decision‑making.
    • Near real-time adjustments for faster load shedding and power balancing.
    • Network modelling to create digital representations for informed planning.
    • Asset management to monitor and extend asset performance and lifespan.
    • Cybersecurity safeguards that protect AI‑driven, IoT‑rich, and increasingly virtualised grid systems.

AI, together with virtualisation and predictive decision-making is key, says GE Vernova’s Anis

“As the region accelerates the energy transition, grid operators need scalable digital tools, grounded in cybersecurity, to keep power reliable, affordable, and secure,” said Joseph Anis, president and CEO of EMEA, for GE Vernova’s Gas Power business.

“AI, together with virtualisation and predictive decision-making, helps human operators plan, operate, and protect increasingly complex and distributed systems in real time.”

Anis added that at ADIPEC, GE Vernova will be showcasing its full portfolio across power generation, transmission, distribution, conversion, storage, and software solutions, emphasising collaborations to enable customers to be future-ready.

On-stand, the company will feature technologies such as flexible lower-carbon natural gas fired turbines, direct air capture (DAC), synchronous condensers, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and SF₆‑free switchgears.

The display will also highlight grid applications including GridBeats – GE Vernova’s AI/ML‑enabled digitalisation – and GridOS orchestration software.

GE Vernova has supported the GCC’s energy infrastructure for over 90 years. The company’s ongoing regional investments include initiatives worth up to $14.2bn for power generation and grid stability projects in Saudi Arabia, announced in May 2025 in support of Saudi Vision 2030.

These investments cover facilities such as the Khobar Integration Facility (KIF) for grid technology and the GE Manufacturing and Technology Center (GEMTEC) campus in Dammam.
