Reports of an outage began around 3 a.m. ET and peaked an hour later. There were still more than 3,000 reports of outages at 9:30 a.m.
At 3:11 a.m. ET, Amazon wrote on its health status page: “We are investigating increased error rates and latencies for multiple AWS services in the US-EAST-1 Region. We will provide another update in the next 30-45 minutes.”
AWS is Amazon’s cloud computing service that helps run many major businesses including Snapchat, Roblox, Fortnite, Ring (which Amazon owns), financial services app Robinhood and even McDonald’s.
