Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has begun a series of rapid traffic improvement measures on Al Thanya Street, a key corridor connecting Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Road, aimed at enhancing traffic flow and pedestrian safety.

The works include upgrading the existing roundabout on Sheikh Zayed Road’s service road leading to Al Thanya Street, constructing a signalised junction at the intersection of Street 10 and Al Thanya Street, and developing walkways with traffic signals for safer pedestrian movement.

Scheduled for completion in early September , the project is part of the RTA’s strategic plan to boost road network efficiency and accommodate Dubai’s growing population, urban development, and economic activity.

The new junction at Street 10 is expected to reduce travel distances for residents moving between Umm Al Sheif and Al Manara, while improving connectivity with Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Wasl Road, and surrounding residential and commercial areas.

The upgrades complement previous improvements along Sheikh Zayed Road’s service road and are designed to support future traffic growth on Al Thanya Street.

Al Thanya Street is a major route carrying heavy traffic due to its links with Jumeirah, Al Wasl, Umm Suqeim, Umm Al Sheif, and Al Manara.

The RTA said the improvements will strengthen connections between internal roads and main arteries, enhance safety standards, and provide safer routes for pedestrians and cyclists.
